3. Sainsbury’s Christmas Advert—Homecoming
In 2012, Asda’s “behind every great Christmas there’s mum (and behind mum is Asda)” advert sparked 620 complaints of sexism when it pulled off the rare feat of uniting the feminists at Mumsnet and Women’s Hour with the aggrieved dads at Fathers4Justice. The retailer responded defiantly with a survey stating eight out of ten mums who shopped at Asda supported the ad and went on to introduce a new “approved by mums” rating on a wide range of products from apples to toilet paper.
The following year Sainsbury’s released this wonderful Christmas cracker of an advert, showing Asda how to make a great dad ad in the process…..
